About the Role
Woodside Energy is seeking a Head of Group Communications, based in Perth, to lead strategic communications across its global portfolio and help shape how the organisation engages with employees, investors and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Vice President Group Corporate Affairs, you will advise executives and senior leaders on complex communications and reputation matters.
This role offers the opportunity to influence business decisions and strengthen communications capability across a global organisation, leading a team that works closely with stakeholders to deliver clear, consistent communications that support business priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead the development and delivery of global reputation and communications strategies and plans that support company priorities.
• Lead integrated communications that connect teams, align narratives and strengthen collaboration across the organisation, creating communication approaches that bring together diverse perspectives and support a consistent enterprise voice.
• Provide trusted advice to executives and senior stakeholders on company communications, brand and reputation issues, including sensitive and complex matters.
• Oversee the development and execution of corporate brand, social media and digital programs.
• Set and manage standards, frameworks and guidelines for corporate communications and brand across the organisation.
• Partner with Investor Relations to develop market communications that meet business and stakeholder needs.
• Lead and develop people leaders and communications specialists, building capability and fostering an inclusive culture that encourages accountability and constructive challenge.
• Build strong internal and external relationships to align priorities and deliver coordinated outcomes.
• Manage budgets and competing priorities, maintain robust governance and compliance, and support relevant statutory reporting requirements.
• Use research and data to measure and enhance communications.
Skills and Experience
• Extensive experience in corporate affairs or strategic communications, with demonstrated success leading teams and delivering business priorities in a complex organisation.
• Strong judgement and experience advising senior executives on sensitive communications, reputation and stakeholder matters.
• Proven people leadership skills, including coaching, effective delegation and performance management across direct and matrix reporting relationships.
• Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across functions and engage senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Sound knowledge of political systems, public policy and global geopolitical trends, supported by experience engaging with government across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience in market communications, alongside an understanding of statutory reporting and corporate governance requirements.
• The ability to work at pace, navigate ambiguity, resolve complex issues and encourage innovation while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, journalism, political science, commerce, law or a related discipline. Experience within government, an industry association or a policy institute would be well regarded.
