Las Bambas

MMG's Las Bambas is a large-scale open-pit copper mine above 4,000m elevation near Challhuahuacho in Peru's Apurímac region. In commercial production since 2016 after more than a decade of development, the mine also yields molybdenum, gold and silver by-products, moving concentrate by truck and rail to the port of Matarani, and employs a workforce that is 98% Peruvian.
